Job summary

Harborview Medical Center seeks an Analyst, Performance Improvement to serve as a strategic consultant and operational partner. You will collaborate with clinical and interdisciplinary teams to advance patient safety, quality, patient experience, and performance metrics.

You will lead cross-functional initiatives, facilitate Lean workshops, coach leaders, and synthesize data into actionable insights for executive decisions, aligning with organizational priorities and sustaining improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience leading complex performance-improvement initiatives in healthcare.
  • Experience facilitating multidisciplinary teams and influencing leaders through change.
  • Advanced knowledge of Lean, improvement science, and change management.
  • Strong skills in process mapping, workflow analysis, and current/future-state design.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into executive-level recommendations.
  • Equivalent education/experience substitutions allowed per policy.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Serve as a strategic consultant, facilitator, educator, and operational partner.
  • Collaborate with clinical and interdisciplinary teams to advance organizational priorities related to patient safety, quality, patient experience, workforce engagement, care delivery, and operational performance.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner with Patient Care Services leaders to develop and implement strategic improvement plans aligned with organizational priorities
  • Lead multidisciplinary initiatives focused on patient safety, quality outcomes, care delivery, workforce engagement, patient experience, and operational efficiency
  • Facilitate improvement workshops and workgroups using Lean methodologies, including A3 problem-solving, value stream mapping, gap analysis, standard work development, leadership standard work, and sustainment planning
  • Coach leaders and frontline teams on Lean principles, change management, continuous improvement, and performance management practices
  • Conduct Gemba observations and frontline engagement activities to identify opportunities for clinical and operational improvement
  • Conduct workflow assessments, observations, interviews, and shadowing activities to identify barriers, inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve patient care delivery
  • Analyze and synthesize clinical, operational, quality, patient safety, workforce, financial, and patient experience data from multiple systems
  • Develop dashboards, reports, presentations, executive summaries, and visualizations to support leadership decision-making
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership, Quality Improvement, Informatics, Finance, Epic IT, and departmental analysts to ensure data accuracy and alignment
  • Conduct benchmarking and research to identify best practices, emerging trends, and innovative approaches to patient care delivery
  • Coordinate project plans, timelines, meetings, deliverables, documentation, communication activities, and follow-up actions for Patient Care Services initiatives
  • Monitor initiative progress, track performance metrics, and support sustainment planning
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and maintain stakeholder accountability
  • Participate in committees, workgroups, and special projects aligned with Patient Care Services priorities
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare administration, nursing, public health, business administration, industrial engineering, organizational leadership, or related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience leading or supporting complex performance improvement initiatives in a healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating multidisciplinary teams and influencing leaders and staff through organizational change initiatives.
  • Advanced knowledge of Lean management systems, improvement science methodologies, and change management principles.
  • Strong skills in process mapping, workflow analysis, current-state assessment, and future-state design.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations and executive-level presentations.
  • Strong facilitation, relationship‑building, and collaboration skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, navigate ambiguity, and adapt to changing organizational needs.
  • Strong skills in process mapping, workflow analysis, current-state assessment, and future-state design.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations and executive-level presentations.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
