Job summary

Morgan Stanley's Parametric division seeks an Analyst, Performance Attribution to deliver rigorous attribution analytics for external distribution. You will collaborate with multiple departments, ensuring accurate reporting and timely delivery while expanding knowledge of Parametric products and strategies.

You will work within a hybrid model, combining in-office collaboration three days a week with flexible remote work, and support client service excellence across institutional and wealth

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a quantitative field.
  • 2+ years of industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional asset management and alternatives investments.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and impact of transactions.
  • Knowledge of attribution theory and practice.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to manage deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel skills; ability to design and maintain complex spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with FactSet, Bloomberg, Barra; knowledge of data analysis tools.
  • Python, SQL, Tableau/Power BI desired.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare quarterly, monthly, and ad hoc performance attribution analyses for institutional/wealth clients and marketing materials.
  • Coordinate commentary with portfolio managers.
  • Perform detailed peer review of deliverables.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all requests.
  • Contribute to data integrity improvements and reporting harmonization.

The position will require teamwork and collaboration with multiple departments. The role is focused on providing exceptional client service through timely and accurate analysis and reporting.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITESPrepare quarterly, monthly, and ad hoc performance attribution analysis for institutional and\\or wealth management clients, and marketing materials.Coordinate commentary with portfolio managers.Perform detailed peer review of deliverables.Manage the timely and accurate delivery of all requests.Investigate portfolio specific inquiries.Contribute to integration efforts to consolidate and harmonize attribution reporting across various Parametric and MSIM business lines.Play an active role in ensuring and improving data integrity/quality.Develop a specialized knowledge of all relevant Parametric products and strategies.Uphold department reputation through professionalism, accuracy, responsiveness, and commitment to client service.Develop a full working knowledge of the firm's structure, key personnel and organizational policies and procedures, in addition to a functional knowledge of a professional services environment.Assume other responsibilities as required.JOB REQUIREMENTS4-year degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a quantitative field.2+ years of industry experience.Demonstrate thorough knowledge of both traditional asset management and alternatives investments (derivatives, fixed income, cash equities, mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity).Understanding of basic accounting principles - ability to interpret performance impact of various transactions and corporate actions.Asset management performance calculation knowledge.Understanding of attribution theory and practice.Possess excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to handle a heavy, deadline-oriented workload.Advanced knowledge of Excel, including designing, creating, and maintaining complex spreadsheets, power queries, reports, and charts.High attention to detail and strong sense of urgency.Must possess a high level of initiative.Familiarity with FactSet, Bloomberg, Barra, and other analysis tools is a plus.Python, SQL, data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) desired.Ability to think strategically and build on system capabilities.Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.Ability to excel independently and in ambiguous situations.Ability to maintain productivity and strong work ethic under minimal supervision.Parametric believes each member of our organization makes a significant contribution to our success. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
