Job summary

Occidental seeks a Control Room Operator in Houston, TX to support production accounting by maintaining ProCount configurations and loading data. You will resolve daily production issues, load venting and flaring data, and create meters to support operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate allocations.

The role requires a 4-year engineering/CS-related degree and 2+ years of oil and gas production experience, with strong Excel and SQL skills and teamwork in a technically diverse

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years Oil and Gas production experience.
• 4-year college degree required in engineering, computer science, information systems, or related field.
• Excellent computer skills, including expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic ability to read and write SQL queries.
• Ability to recognize and manage the data streams from oil and gas production equipment including tanks, meters, flares, and LACTs.
• Ability to work in a team environment with a technically diverse staff.

Responsibilities

• Support operations by maintaining configuration data and loading data into ProCount.
• Resolve day-to-day production, venting, and flaring issues in ProCount by maintaining system configurations.
• Load venting and flaring data into ProCount in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Create meters (physical and virtual) to support operational and business needs.
• QA/QC meters for duplicates, naming conventions, state assignments, and categorization.
• File or support filing State and Federal regulatory reports as required.
• Troubleshoot and remedy allocation and reporting issues.
• Collaborate with production accounting to resolve data issues in ProCount to improve allocations accuracy.
• Work with operations, automation, and IT to implement automation data points integrated to ProCount.
• Reconcile ProCount relationships to systems like SAP PM, SAP PRA, SHER, ProntoForms, ACTS.

Control Room Operator – Houston, TX – Onshore Resources & Carbon Management

Responsibilities

• Support operations by maintaining configuration data, troubleshooting errors, and loading data into the Oxy Production Accounting system (ProCount).
• Resolve day‑to‑day production, venting, and flaring issues in Oxy’s production accounting system by maintaining system configurations for meters, tanks, networks, and routes.
• Work with operations to load venting and flaring data into ProCount in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Create meters, both physical and virtual, to support operational and business needs using standard naming conventions.
• QA/QC meters for duplicates, standard naming conventions, state assignments, and categorization.
• File or support filing State and Federal regulatory reports, as required by operations and regulatory stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and remedy allocation and reporting issues.
• Work with production accounting to resolve operational data issues in ProCount to improve allocations accuracy.
• Work with operations, automation, and IT to manage and implement automation data points integrated directly to ProCount.
• Reconcile and maintain ProCount relationships to systems such as SAP PM, SAP PRA, SHER, ProntoForms, and ACTS.
• Support Production Accounting with errors/reconciliation between ProCount and PRA.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years Oil and Gas production experience working as a Well Analyst, Production Tech, Data Technician, or Production Accountant.
• 4‑year college degree required in engineering, computer science, information systems, or related field.
• Excellent computer skills, including expert‑level proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic ability to read and write SQL queries.
• Ability to recognize and manage the data streams from oil and gas production equipment including tanks, meters, flares, and LACTs.
• Ability to work in a team environment with a technically diverse staff ranging from field operators to IT experts.
