Job summary

The Clearing, Inc. is a management consulting firm helping leaders tackle organizational obstacles and prioritize key initiatives. We seek a hands-on professional to support client deliverables, meetings, research, and proposal development while learning our change-management toolkit.

You will work with a team to synthesize findings, travel to DC/Northern Virginia areas, and contribute to high-stakes client solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (or have had one recently).
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program.
  • 1+ year of professional work experience in a professional services or client-facing setting.
  • Willingness to travel to DC and Northern Virginia client sites; occasional travel outside region (≈5%).
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience or certification in change management, strategic planning or program management is a plus; PMP or Prosci desired.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of high-quality client-facing deliverables.
  • Coordinate and logistically support external and internal meetings.
  • Own knowledge capture during client meetings and co-facilitate as needed.
  • Support research, data gathering, analysis, and present findings for client recommendations.
  • Contribute to proposal development efforts.
  • Apply critical thinking to evaluate needs and refine client approaches with the team.
  • Learn The Clearing’s change management methods and tools.

The Clearing is a management consulting firm that helps leaders identify underlying causes of organizational obstacles, resolve highly complex challenges, prioritize the fewest, most important initiatives to tackle regardless of conflicting needs, and make informed decisions in the context of an agreed-upon mission, vision, and strategy. What You’ll Do


  • Support the development of high-quality client-facing deliverables

  • Support the design, coordination, and logistics of external and internal meetings

  • Own knowledge capture responsibility during internal and external client meetings; occasionally co-facilitate internal and external client meetings

  • Support and/or lead research, data gathering, and analysis to inform the development of client recommendations and solutions; clearly synthesize and present results

  • Contribute to proposal development efforts

  • Showcase critical thinking skills to evaluate needs, make initial recommendations, and partner with team members to refine thinking and approaches to client challenges

  • Gain a fundamental understanding of change management consulting and The Clearing's methods, techniques, and tools


Compensation

The projected annual salary range for this position is between $65,000 and $80,000. Actual compensation and starting salaries are determined by various factors, including the candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, certifications, clearance level, and internal equity. Once at The Clearing, movement through pay bands is based on performance. Base annual salary is just one component of The Clearing’s total compensation philosophy and approach. Requirements


  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (or have had one within the past two years)

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 1+ year of professional work experience, preferably in a professional services or client-facing environment

  • Willingness and ability to travel to client sites in the surrounding DC and Northern Virginia metro areas; occasional travel outside of these regions could be expected (5%)

  • Critical thinking/problem-solving skills, attention to detail, organization and time-management skills, and effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Flexible and adaptable mindset to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced, high-stakes client environments

  • Desired skills, experiences, and certifications: change management, strategic planning, strategic communication, program management, and/or organizational design experience; PMP and/or Change Management certification (ex. Prosci)


Physical And Mental Requirements

While performing duties of this job, an employee may be required to perform any, or all of the following: attend meetings in and out of the office, travel (sometimes extensively); occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand; communicate effectively (both orally and in writing); ability to effectively use computers and other electronic and standard office equipment; and occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work is primarily sedentary and involves sitting for several hours at a time. Occasionally, walking, climbing stairs, and standing occur in this role. Additionally, this job requires certain mental demands, including the ability to exercise judgment, withstand moderate stress, and maintain attention to detail.
