Job summary

Microbac Laboratories, Inc. is seeking an Analyst II to join our accredited commercial laboratory in a collaborative setting.

You will conduct standard chemical and/or biological tests and analyze results to determine composition and properties, aligning with SOPs and QA requirements. You will review processes, manage data, and support method development under guidance, while maintaining accuracy and contributing to data reports for clients across life science, environmental, and nutrition

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2+ years of lab experience, or 6+ years with no degree.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory principles, terminology, practices and instrumentation.
  • Ability to interpret data, prepare reports, and perform peer review.
  • Excellent time management and effective written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare standards, solutions, reagents, media, and samples for analyses.
  • Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Record observations and data; perform basic data interpretation.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs and quality programs; participate in QA reviews.
  • Support data reporting and peer review; assist method development as needed.

Job Summary

The Analyst II, working in an accredited commercial laboratory, is responsible for conducting standard chemical and/or biological tests and analyzing results to determine composition, reactions, and chemical and/or physical properties of a variety of sample types. The position may also review processes and perform data review to ensure alignment with established SOPs and accuracy. Limited exercise of judgement and detailed work procedures required for more complex methods and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Following established SOPs and adhering to state, federal and other accrediting body requirements, prepare and process samples, and collect information about the composition of substances to support the analytical testing needs of clients, for such purposes as quantitative analysis, and product development
  • Prepare necessary standards, solutions, reagents, media, and samples for sample analyses
  • Utilize specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation to process and analyze samples
  • Perform equipment and instrumentation set up
  • Accurately record observations and data and basic interpretation of data
  • Maintain the integrity of procedures and record professional activity for peer review
  • Monitor and address sample backlog issues
  • Maintain accurate, up to date logs, notebooks and equipment records
  • Perform necessary laboratory administrative functions such as filing paperwork, photocopying, reviewing of data, and entering data into computerized LIMS
  • Comply with and promote Safety, and Quality programs
  • Perform peer review and work with the QA team to maintain up to date SOPs
  • Perform advanced level sample analysis
  • Troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation issues
  • Investigate and address inconsistencies with data output
  • May be involved in test method development with guidance
  • Accurately record observations and data, and interpret results
  • Maintain the integrity of procedures
  • Create data reports; review data and reports for accuracy; perform peer reviews
  • May be asked to perform duties of a Technical Manager or Study Manager
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited institution in a related field of applied science; plus, two or more years of related experience; or six plus years of related laboratory experience with no degree
  • Strong understanding of principles, terminology, practices, techniques and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting
  • Ability to interpret data, record observations, prepare reports, and perform peer review
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage time to meet deadlines and rush orders
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to work with delicate laboratory equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats
  • Ability to understand and adhere to established SOPs
