Job summary

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (AQN), parent company of Liberty, seeks a Senior Regulatory Accountant to lead complex regulatory accounting, FERC/NARUC reporting, and rate-case support.

You will act as a subject matter expert for regulatory financial data and ensure filings are accurate, complete, and auditable. You will partner with Regulatory Affairs, Legal, auditors, and finance leadership to drive process improvements, standardization, and timely responses to data requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Five to eight years of progressive accounting, regulatory accounting, utility accounting, financial reporting, or related experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, regulatory accounting, regulatory assets and liabilities, and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting filings, rate cases, regulatory audits, or FERC/NARUC reporting.
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills with ability to manipulate large data sets.
  • Experience with SAP, Hyperion/HFM, Workiva, Power BI, PowerPlan, BlackLine, or comparable platforms.
  • Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and deadline management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex regulatory accounting and FERC/NARUC reporting.
  • Serve as primary financial lead for rate cases, regulatory proceedings, audits, and data requests.
  • Ensure filings, exhibits, and financial analyses are accurate and auditable.
  • Develop regulatory responses, exhibits, and testimony support.
  • Provide SME guidance on USOA, regulatory assets/liabilities, cost allocations, and rate recovery mechanisms.
  • Lead GAAP-to-regulatory reconciliations and regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs, Legal, auditors, and business stakeholders.
