Job summary

BMO Capital Markets is seeking an Analyst in the Securitization, Structured Margin Loan, and Private Credit Financing Group within Global Markets Corporate Banking in Chicago. The role supports account management by underwriting, portfolio management, and reporting of private credit financing facilities.

Responsibilities include due diligence, credit analysis, and ongoing portfolio oversight; you will prepare quarterly reviews and communicate with sponsor/management teams.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in private credit, banking, or related field.
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or accounting preferred; high academic achievement.
  • Completion of a financial analysis or credit training program preferred.
  • Experience with lending and derivative products.

  • Assess borrowers’ internal risk rating based on quantitative and qualitative changes in assets.
  • Create regular facility and portfolio-level reporting for account management and senior leadership.

Position Overview

We are looking for an Analyst in the Securitization, Structured Margin Loan, and Private Credit Financing Group within Global Markets Corporate Banking. The analyst will support account management by underwriting, portfolio management, and reporting of private credit financing facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct due diligence, credit analysis, transaction underwriting, credit approval, legal document negotiation, and ongoing portfolio management to support the Private Credit Financing Team.
  • Review and monitor primary facility and asset‑level financial statements for changes that could impact borrower performance; perform detailed quarterly financial reviews, participate in lender calls, and maintain ongoing dialogue with sponsor/management teams.
  • Prepare quarterly portfolio reviews, analyzing historical and projected financial performance, industry trends, and macroeconomic factors for presentation to senior Global Markets and Risk professionals.
  • Draft concise credit analysis and other correspondence on an annual or more frequent basis for all borrowers.
  • Assess borrowers’ internal risk rating regularly based on quantitative and qualitative changes in individual assets.
  • Create regular facility and portfolio‑level reporting for account management, senior leadership, business partners in Global Markets and Credit Risk.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, ensure adherence to prescribed policies and procedures, and support the overall safety of the bank’s financing position.
  • Integrate information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis, and streamlined reporting.
  • Work with specialists as needed to support successful deal completion.
  • Assume broader responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience, including private credit, banking, public accounting, investment banking, valuations, or a related field; a post‑secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or accounting preferred; high academic achievement.
  • Completion of a financial analysis or credit training program preferred.
  • Experience with lending and derivative products.
  • Ability to travel periodically to client meetings and industry conferences.
  • Typical analyst tenure is 1–3 years before becoming eligible for promotion.
Skills
  • Excellent analytical, business, financial, and credit analysis skills; strong understanding of risk management concepts.
  • Proficient in building complex financial and capital models.
  • Skilled in building cash‑flow models.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, notably Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Creative, insightful, and resourceful in performing duties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in a demanding team environment.
  • Organized and detail‑oriented in reviewing and assessing multiple projects.
  • Independent and self‑motivated team player.
Compensation

The salary range for this role is $95,000 up to $110,000 USD, subject to the candidate meeting the specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements.
