Northern Trust is seeking an IPS Analyst in Fund Administration to support monthly NAV close, journal entries, and reconciliations for a marquee hedge fund client. You will learn fund accounting concepts, financial reporting, and client service in a collaborative team environment.

You will gain exposure to fund structures, invest‑oriented systems, and the IPS processes that drive accurate reporting and audit readiness while starting with clearly defined tasks and progressing as you develop

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow established procedures, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Interest in learning financial systems such as ERP or investor accounting platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Relevant work experience preferred; recent graduates may be considered.

As an IPS Analyst in Fund Administration, you’ll join a dedicated client team supporting a high-profile hedge fund client within Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services. This is a great opportunity to learn how fund accounting, financial reporting, and client support come together in a real-world business setting.


In this role, you’ll support core fund administration and financial reporting activities while learning from experienced team members. The position is designed for recent graduates in accounting, finance, or a related field and will help you build foundational skills in monthly NAV close, investor accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. You’ll start with clearly defined work, including preparing data, completing reconciliations, supporting journal entries, and contributing to client deliverables. Along the way, you’ll gain exposure to fund structures, accounting processes, and the systems used to support our clients.


What You’ll Do


  • Help prepare monthly fund NAV close support, business entity close schedules, and related materials for review

  • Gather, check, and organize financial data that is shared with clients and investors

  • Support the monthly close process by preparing journal entries, schedules, and reconciliations with guidance from senior team members

  • Assist with financial statements and supporting schedules for funds

  • Prepare audit support materials and help respond to auditor requests with team guidance

  • Take part in team learning, training, and development opportunities

  • Complete assigned tasks while building your technical knowledge of fund administration and IPS processes

  • Follow established processes, meet deadlines, and raise questions or issues when support is needed

  • Contribute ideas that help improve how the team works and delivers for clients

Salary Range

$48,000 - 72,000 USD


Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well‑being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
