Job summary

Energy Transfer in Pittsburgh is seeking an Analyst - Field to support the Engineering and Construction group with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis of capital and operating expenses. You will work closely with Corporate Accounting, Project Engineers and management to prepare reports, explain variances and present results.

Prior experience in energy or SAP/TM1 is preferred, and strong Excel skills are essential for data handling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or equivalent experience.
• MS Office Suite experience and proficient with Excel.
• Comfortable with financial software (e.g., SAP, TM1).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to exercise judgment and challenge assumptions.
• Able to communicate with Analysts and Project Engineers to solve project issues.
• Analyst level requires 2–5 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists with managing and overseeing budgets for the Engineering and Construction Group (capital and expense).
• Analyze and consolidate financial reports regarding budget status and forecasts.
• Explain variances and forecast project cash flows with Project Engineers.
• Input and record accruals; create journal entries to correct AP project charges.
• Present financial analysis and budgetary reports to Division Management; roll up reports to Corporate Accounting.
• Assist with managing the E&C capital budget development process; schedule budget development reviews.
• Ensure project descriptions, justifications and cash flows are clear and complete; input budgets into the database.
• Generate and present reports for review and approval; address invoice discrepancies with vendors and Project Engineers.
• Audit, code and process invoices per company policies; ensure alignment with contracts and PO terms.

Description

Summary:

The Field Analyst will report to the Manager of Engineering and Construction. The successful candidate will assist with financial forecasting, budgeting and analysis of both capital and operating expenses managed by the Division E&C Group. This role requires that the candidate has the ability to operate in a fast paced, collaborative environment working closely with Corporate Accounting, Project Engineers, and Management. The successful candidate must be proficient in financial reporting, participating in active group discussions and the presentation of financial results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists with managing and overseeing both capital and expense budgets managed by the Division's Engineering and Construction Group.
• Analyze and consolidate financial reports regarding budget status and forecasts
• Ensure any variances are explained
• Work with Project Engineers and utilize analytical tools to forecast project cash flows
• Input and record any manual accruals at the end of each quarter
• Create journal entries to correct AP project charges
• Present financial analysis and budgetary reports to Division Management
• Roll up finalized reports to Corporate Accounting
• Assists with managing the Divisions E&C capital budget development process
• Establish appropriate timelines and schedules to meet required deadlines
• Schedule and facilitate budget development review meetings
• Ensure project descriptions, justifications and cash flows are clear, consistent and complete
• Input projectbudgets into company’s database
• Generate and present reports for review and approval
• Work with vendors and Project Engineers when invoices are incorrect
• Audit, code and process invoice per Company policies and procedures
• Check for discrepancies per contractual agreements and purchase orders
• Provide proper coding, route for approval and input into AP system

Required Skills and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or additional equivalent business experience.
• MS Office Suite experience, and proficient with Excel.
• Comfortable in financial software packages (e.g., SAP, TM1).
• Exhibits strong communication and interpersonal skills, strong ability to apply judgment, and professionally challenge and question both basic and complicated activity and assumptions.
• Able to communicate with Analyst and Project Engineers and solve project related issues
• The Analyst level requires 2-5 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Energy Industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Proficient with Excel: pivot tables and the manipulation of large amounts of data
• SAPsystems experience

Working Conditions:

• Usually, normal office working conditions.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.
