Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Program Coordinator, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to support environmental compliance and safety initiatives in our Illinois operation.

You will advise associates, perform audits, lead safety meetings, and develop programs to enhance workplace safety and regulatory compliance. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 1 year of EHS experience, strong OSHA/EPA knowledge, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year in EHS roles or related environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and scanning equipment.
  • Experience leading safety trainings and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and lead associates on safety-related topics.
  • Conduct and coordinate inspections, safety audits, and environmental audits.
  • Lead safety meetings and ensure training on safety policies.
  • Investigate accidents to identify root causes and improvements.
  • Maintain EHS processes and ensure regulatory compliance.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
  • Advise and lead associates on various safety-related topics.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate inspections, safety audits, and environmental audits for campus locations.
  • Lead safety meetings and ensure proper training of associates on safety and health requirements and policies to ensure compliance.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover root causes and recommend solutions, improvement opportunities, or preventive measures.
  • Provide elevated support to the EHS team, ensuring all aspects of EHS compliance are met at the highest level.
  • Maintain, coordinate, and communicate EHS processes and procedures.
  • Review, administer, maintain, and ensure compliance with company policies and various state and federal regulations.
  • Review, research, develop, and communicate EHS programs and solution initiatives; develop action plans as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • At least 1 year of EHS experience
  • Basic working knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and computerized scanner equipment
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including planned and unplanned overtime, which may include weekends

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Background or current certification in CPR, AED, and BBP
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent related work or military experience
  • Strong time and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize workloads
  • Experience in EHS within a warehousing or distribution environment
  • Understanding of industry-related state and federal rules and regulations
  • Self-motivation to work independently or in a team environment
  • Spanish language proficiency
