Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a business field and/or experience in the financial industry.
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Understanding of general accounting principles as they apply to the industry.
  • Understanding of general process controls, with knowledge of database, spreadsheet applications, and data modelling, including Microsoft Excel, Access and other Office applications.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all reporting obligations for the Firm's Wealth Management and Institutional clients and ensure compliance with IRS regulations.
  • Maintain cost basis records and provide Gain/Loss reporting for assets held in MS Wealth Management customer accounts.
  • Collaborate with cross-organizational operations teams, reconcile discrepancies between processing systems, and verify regulatory reporting accuracy.
  • Support testing of strategic platform initiatives and contribute to automation efforts using tools like Alteryx, UI Path, and EUC.
  • Crypto space experience is encouraged for this role.

Job description

The US Tax Operations Analyst role handles all reporting obligations for the Firms Wealth Management and Institutional clients, and is responsible for ensuring compliance with the IRS regulations. The team is primarily located in Utah with additional coverage in New York. The Gain & Loss department maintains cost basis records and provides Gain/Loss reporting for assets held in MS Wealth Management customer accounts. The Tax teams work closely with cross-organizational operations teams, handle related queries, reconcile discrepancies between various processing systems, ensure accuracy of regulatory reporting (e.g. cost basis and withholding), and support requirements and testing of strategic platform initiatives. The department has a major focus on automation. We work closely with technology and continually look for ways to improve efficiency and reduce risk through Alteryx, UI Path, and EUC tools when resolution isn't immediately available systemically. Experience within the Crypto space is encouraged for this role.
