Full-Time Analyst Position - 2027 Start

ABOUT THE ANALYST ROLE

This investing apprenticeship role will expose the Analyst to every aspect of venture capital. While shadowing and supporting partners at G2, the Analyst will:

• Meet brilliant entrepreneurs as they pitch climate tech startups that plan to change the world
• Evaluate novel technologies and develop viewpoints on how they will transform traditional industries to be more sustainable
• Participate in (and vote in) Investment Committee discussions
• Prepare for (and work on follow-ups to) portfolio company Board meetings to assist G2 Partners in their roles as Board Directors advising firms on their most important considerations (strategy, organization, financings, M&A, etc)
• Help portfolio companies improve the economic engines that drive their businesses.

HOW AN ANALYST WILL WIN AT G2

A successful Analyst will:

• Be curious, enjoy figuring out how technologies, industries, and companies work, and not be satisfied by superficial answers
• Be capable of using multiple tools to extract, structure, and present insights from data.
• Have the horsepower to quickly learn new techniques and tools, identifying the right approach to solve any problem in front of them
• Crisply communicate conclusions and ideas, be prepared to support views with data, work collaboratively in a team-based environment
• Be self-motivated and take initiative in seeking ways to contribute; tackle challenges and improve processes without being asked
• Have a "whatever it takes" attitude; Willing to doggedly grind through data and research to discover a critical insight and fully understand the situation
• Show genuine interest in sustainability technology businesses

QUALIFICATIONS:

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Prior professional experience or coursework requiring critical analysis of business models and financial projections. Investing, banking, or consulting internship experience preferred
• Established record as a curious "self-starter"
• Strong organizational skills, excellent analytical reasoning, and an ability to present complex ideas and information in simple, persuasive form, both written and oral
• Genuine passion for investing and the entrepreneurial process
• Shown interest in sustainability
• Desire to be a connector / develop a robust network, and work in a collaborative, trust-based team environment
• Professional and personal maturity that demonstrates unquestionable integrity and sound business instincts

START DATE

Full-time starting late Summer 2027.

LOCATION

Our office is in Portola Valley, California. Most of the team works in the office 3-4 days a week. We expect Analysts to be based in the Bay Area - this is not a remote role.
