Job description

The Analyst is where a clean data picture turns into real analysis. Instead of doing the initial data entry yourself, you review the Associate's work for accuracy and completeness. From there, you build the model framework — and any custom or complex models a plan calls for — and turn validated data into the research, models, and materials the RM needs to advise the client.

You're also the one who proves out the RM's recommendations with numbers. When the RM sets a direction for the client, you build the model behind it — quantifying the impact against the status quo, stress-testing the assumptions, and documenting them clearly so the recommendation arrives supported, not just asserted.

Nothing goes up to the RM until it's checked, and nothing goes out until it's right. You'll delegate templated work and data entry down to the Associate, so your time stays on judgment calls — what a model should show, whether the numbers hold up, and what the research means for the client's plan.

What Success Looks Like

Two pictures the RM can build on without re-checking: a clean, reviewed picture of where the client stands today, and a modeled, quantified picture of where a recommendation would take them — both handed up ready to finalize, not rebuild.

What You Will Own
  • Data Review — review the data the Associate enters into the balance sheet, eMoney, and other systems of record, confirming it's accurate and complete before it's used in any model or deliverable.
  • Recommendation Modeling — take the direction the RM sets and build the model that proves it out — quantifying the impact against the status quo, stresstesting the assumptions, and documenting them clearly so the recommendation arrives supported by numbers, not asserted. Build any custom or complex model a plan needs beyond what's templated.
  • Tax & Technical Research — execute the specific research points the RM identifies for the plan — digging into complex tax and financial questions to assess strategy viability and flag audit, regulatory, or implementation risk.
  • Scenario & Situational Models — build the narrower models a specific fact pattern calls for, whether it's tied to our own recommendations or a clientdriven event — liquidity events, buy/sellside analysis, financial comparisons, insurance and investment analysis, cashflow and estate/succession scenarios. Isolate the moving piece and flex the variables so the team can compare outcomes.
  • AIEnabled Analysis — use AI deliberately across research, modeling, and drafting; review what comes back against the source documents and the math, correct what's wrong, and own the final product. AI speeds up the work — it doesn't sign off on it.
Deliverables & Documentation
  • ClientFacing Materials — build clientready slides and materials with the RM, explaining strategy mechanics, assumptions, and implications clearly.
  • Research Memoranda & Library — write clear, wellcited research memos; keep the research library organized so the team can find and reuse work.
  • Deliverable Drafting & Delegation — draft deliverables yourself, and delegate templated or dataentry pieces down to the Associate.
  • Standard Templates — use ACG's standard templates wherever they fit.
Engagement Workflow
  • Document Request List — help determine what belongs on the document request list using the strategy the MD/RM sets; curate it collaboratively with the RM.
  • Meetings — attend the prekickoff meeting and kickoff call; stay engaged enough in every RM meeting to hold full context on the engagement and flag anything that needs analytical followup.
  • Framework — take the RM's strategy and translate it into the technical framework the engagement runs on — what data, analysis, and diligence workstreams it actually needs.
  • External Resources — bring in outside resources when a client matter calls for it, with RM/MD approval.
  • Interface with the RM — stay close enough to the RM to always understand the client's full picture — their FWE, what's moving, and recent history.
What We Are Looking For:
Required:
  • Experience — four or more years in finance, accounting, or tax (strong candidates stepping up from an Associate or similar role welcome).
  • Microsoft Office — advanced in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Independent Modeling — able to build, flex, and troubleshoot financial models independently — designing the scenario and testing the assumptions.
  • AI Fluency — comfortable directing AI tools across research, modeling, and drafting, and confident judging when the output is right — verifying it against source documents before it moves up.
  • Technical Command — strong understanding of financial and tax concepts.
  • Research Skills — strong tax and legal research skills.
  • Analytical Rigor — detailoriented, with strong analytical and criticalthinking skills — comfortable working from an incomplete fact pattern and flagging what would change the answer.
  • Distillation — able to turn dense data into something presentable for modeling and presentations.
  • Communication — strong written and oral skills to explain findings and analysis clearly.
  • Industry Knowledge — solid financial planning fundamentals and a real desire to keep learning.
  • Relationship Building — builds trust easily with both colleagues and clients.
  • Education — Bachelor's degree in business administration, Banking & Finance, Managerial Finance, or Accounting.
Preferred:
  • Credentials — CFA and/or CFP; CPA exam eligibility or progress.
  • Tax Return Experience — experience reviewing and researching personal, partnership, and corporate tax returns.
  • Software — eMoney, WealthTec, or MoneyGuide experience.
  • Advanced Modeling Experience — experience building multiscenario cash flow, liquidity event, or transaction models for closely held businesses or highnetworth families.
  • Research Platforms — CCH, Bloomberg Tax, and comfort applying authority to real client fact patterns.
  • Advanced Planning Exposure — exposure to trust & estate, multistate (SALT), or advanced planning structures.
