Job description

Greenmantle is a macroeconomic and geopolitical advisory firm with offices in New York, London, Boston, and Washington D.C. We advise a select and strictly limited group of clients in the energy, financial, industrial, and technology sectors on the financial implications of geopolitical and macroeconomic risk.

We believe that decision-makers today have an acute need for historical perspective. We believe that bespoke advice, based on real relationships, is superior to commoditized research. We also believe that a small, exclusive network is superior to a large, open-access one.

Hence, we provide our clients with individualized advisory services including presentations, active participation at meetings and conferences, as well as access to Greenmantle’s team of regional experts. Our consulting services are complemented by regular event-driven bulletins and in-depth research reports about economic and political developments in key countries and markets.

About the role

Greenmantle is looking to hire a full-time Analyst who will work across Greenmantle’s regional teams, and with Greenmantle’s commodities and macroeconomics teams, to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze global macroeconomic trends and commodity markets. The analyst will support Greenmantle’s different research teams that cover individual countries and markets across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. The ideal candidate will have strong data analysis skills and a keen interest in macroeconomics and history.

Candidates should have a degree in a STEM field (including economics) or a demonstrated interest in quantitative analysis. Prior work experience coding (with the expectation that you are comfortable in Python) and using Excel is required. Prior experience performing academic research is required. Research in political science, economics, history, or similar fields is highly desired. Prior experience with Bloomberg is a plus. Recent college graduates, as well as candidates with 0-3 years of work experience, are encouraged to apply.

We do not expect candidates to have a full mastery of macroeconomic or geopolitical topics. We are looking for someone quantitatively minded who is eager to apply and develop their skills in the context of our firm’s research. This role is fundamentally research oriented. We are looking for candidates with a desire to learn.
