Job description

At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling - to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today's mission and stay ahead of tomorrow's threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.

What You Will Do:

Join the Raytheon team within our Hardware Electrical Engineering Organization responsible for the design, test, manufacture, and mission support of advanced electrical subsystems utilized in extreme battlefield environments. In this role, you will contribute to cutting‑edge technologies spanning target detection and tracking, guidance, navigation, digital signal processing, and communications. Working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, you will apply rigorous engineering processes to solve complex hardware challenges, engineer high‑reliability circuit card assemblies (CCAs), and advance solutions from design through lab integration. Join the Raytheon team within our Hardware Electrical Engineering Organization and play a vital role in engineering the critical electrical backbones that power our nation's defense systems. In this role, you will design, simulate, analyze, and test cutting‑edge analog electronics, high‑efficiency power conversion topologies, power distribution architectures, flight termination/telemetry systems, and precision servo/motor control systems. Working collaboratively alongside cross‑functional engineering teams, you will help take complex analog engineering concepts from initial requirements through hands‑on laboratory integration and production support. Depending on assignment needs, occasional travel to local engineering and integration facilities in Marlborough, MA & Tewksbury, MA may be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, analyze, simulate, and document analog circuitry, power conversion modules (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC), and power sub‑system architectures.
  • Develop precision control systems, including servo control loops, motor drives, digital feedback systems, and command generation models.
  • Architect and design flight termination/telemetry systems, including analog/digital conversion, data acquisition modules, encoders, and RF transmitters.
  • Model power system dynamics, electromagnetic interference (EMI), harmonic controls, and circuit stress using tools such as PSPICE, LTspice, or MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Support hardware integration, laboratory characterization, troubleshooting, and production test activities for electrical power components.
  • Collaborate closely with systems, mechanical, software, and reliability engineers to ensure hardware complies with operational specifications and program milestones.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including schematics, design review data packages, test procedures, and trade study reports.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline. Degree must be obtained by start date.
  • Experience or coursework in one or more of the following areas: Analog Electronics, Power Electronics, Power Systems, or Control Systems.
  • Experience developing simulations or models of electrical circuits or engineering systems using tools such as PSPICE, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent computational software.
  • Experience communicating technical concepts through engineering documentation (such as design specifications, technical reports, or schematics) or technical presentations.
  • * Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Hands‑on laboratory experience with hardware development, power conversion prototyping, or electronic troubleshooting using standard test benches.
  • Familiarity with power conversion architectures (linear and switching supplies, resonant circuits, PFC, ZVS) or power distribution networks.
  • Knowledge of test and production methods for electronic components, magnetics, filters, or power systems.
  • Experience with data conversion and transmission methodologies (ADCs/DACs, RS422, LVDS, etc.).
  • Practical experience or coursework in motor control algorithms, inertial stabilization, or servo feedback mechanisms.
