Tight Team. Hard Problems. Real Hardware.

The Role

This role focuses on low-noise analog and mixed-signal circuit design, hardware bring-up, debugging, and system integration for precision sensing systems operating near the limits of measurement sensitivity.

You will work closely with a small technical team spanning physics, electronics, embedded systems, and sensing technologies. Engineers are expected to contribute meaningfully across disciplines.

This is a high-impact, high-ownership role, where you will define best practices, influence product strategy, and help lay the foundation for FieldLine Industries’ culture and growth.

What we’re looking for…

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys making precision electronics work reliably in real-world conditions and improving designs through iterative product releases.

We recognize that virtually every job post calls for someone driven and self-motivated, but we actually mean it here. Here you’ll be part of a small, tight team who enjoys collaborating while wearing multiple hats.

This position may require access to export-controlled information subject to ITAR regulations. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents eligible to access export-controlled information under U.S. regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Design and improve low-noise analog circuits, including sensor readout, current drivers, and amplifiers
  • Own electrical architecture for quantum magnetometer hardware, including circuit design, schematic capture
  • Select components with attention to noise, stability, availability, lifecycle, and cost
  • Define and review PCB layouts with a focus on signal integrity and grounding, power distribution and decoupling, clocking and digital interface
  • Support board bring-up, validation, and system-level debugging
  • Work with manufacturing partners and vendors
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience designing electronics for products or instrumentation
  • Strong experience with schematic capture and PCB design
  • Deep understanding of analog electronics and mixed-signal systems
  • Experience designing hardware intended for production and deployment, not just lab use
  • Comfortable debugging hardware
  • Self-driven, tinkerer, learner
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with EMC/EMI considerations and compliance testing
  • Experience supporting products already in production or early field use
  • Exposure to magnetic sensing, instrumentation, or quantum/atomic systems
  • Interest in contributing to development of quantum technologies - previous quantum or magnetometer experience is not essential
This role offers
  • Significant technical ownership
  • Exposure to advanced sensing systems
  • Direct impact on fielded, deployed hardware systems
  • A collaborative, fun working environment
  • Opportunity to learn and grow your skillset
  • Competitive benefits package
Why join FieldLine
  • Work on cutting-edge quantum technology moving from lab to real-world impact
  • High ownership and visibility—your designs will define the product
  • Close collaboration with world‑class physicists, engineers and research institutions
  • Competitive benefits package
  • A culture that values deep thinking, fast iteration, and building things that matter
  • Quarterly teambuilding events

Finally, we believe in maintaining a healthy work‑life balance and do our best to support our team in enjoying life beyond the workday. Extended, 80‑hour workweeks are not part of the expectation here.
