Job summary

Nashville Zoo is seeking an Amphibian Conservation Specialist to lead conservation efforts within the Ectotherm department. The role emphasizes fieldwork, data collection, and collaboration with curators to advance amphibian populations and welfare.

Responsibilities include managing populations, assisting veterinarians, and training staff while supporting educational outreach and public presentations. This full-time position demands strong data handling and safety around exotic animals.

Qualifications

• BS in zoology or related field with 7+ years amphibian experience, or MS with 2 years amphibian experience.
• Extensive knowledge of amphibian biology and behavior; ability to work with life support systems and data management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food and water for research and conservation populations destined for release or grant-funded research.
• Field collection and conservation work with species.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Maintain professional conduct and model organizational values.
• Document and collect data.
• Collaborate with Curator on conservation projects.
• Clean exhibits and service areas.
• Provide coaching and guidance to keeper staff.
• Participate in and train others in animal conditioning techniques.
