Reser’s Fine Foods - Century Plant in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Refrigeration Technician 3 to maintain, repair and inspect ammonia refrigeration systems under moderate supervision. The role requires preventive maintenance, quick response to system interruptions, and on-call emergency repairs while communicating with technicians, supervisors, and clients.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 7+ years of experience, and Technician II with PSM/RMP certification.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintains PMs of refrigeration system.
• Disassembles machinery and equipment to remove parts and perform repairs.
• Diagnoses root cause of malfunctions by testing operation of machinery and equipment.
• Stocks and inventories parts and materials for repairs.
• Performs daily chemical testing and logs results; makes adjustments to maintain systems within limits.
• Occasionally works with a full-face respirator and adheres to safety procedures.
• Supports documentation retention for PSM, Refrigeration and Safety records.

Job Summary:

Under moderate supervision a Refrigeration Technician 3 is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and examining refrigeration systems, working specifically with ammonia refrigeration. This role requires performing preventative maintenance to refrigeration systems. Will respond to any system interruptions and have the flexibility to be on call to conduct emergency repairs. Must be able to work and communicate with a diverse variety of individuals, including fellow technicians, supervisors, clients and assist with upkeep of critical documents.

Essential Position Functions:

1. Supports both the PSM and Refrigeration team to maintain all PSM, Refrigeration and Safety documentation retention. (SOP’s, LOTO’s, and P&ID’s)
2. Maintains PMs of refrigeration system.
3. Confer with operators and observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose root cause of malfunction.
4. Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
5. Perform daily chemical testing and logging all test results, making adjustments required to maintain refrigeration & utility system within established limits.
6. Periodic use and maintenance of fitted full face respirator.
7. Assists with inventory control.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Technical degree in preferred.
• Must have at least 7 years + experience.
• Must have Technician II and PSM/RMP certification.
• Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience helpful.
• Required to be able to pass and maintain annual medical and pulmonary fit tests for respirator use.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• English/Spanish bilingual is a plus.
• Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and Process Safety Management (PSM) is required.
• Use of technology such as computers, mobile devices, etc. preferred.
• Refrigerated food manufacturing plants.
• Must be able to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, and moving around refrigeration systems.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• The environment may be wet or dry and temperatures may range from -20°F to 110°F.
• Repetitive pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending and lifting objects in excess of 80 lbs.
• Requires walking or standing for long periods of time, ascending and descending stairs and ladders.
• Production demands may require overtime and/or evening or weekend scheduling.
• Schedules vary from 10-12 hours shift work required.
