Job summary

Conservation Legacy is seeking an AmeriCorps service member for the NPS Historic Preservation Training Center – Point Reyes utility systems project. You will maintain 13 small non-public systems and 6 public ones, perform water testing, repair plumbing, and support wastewater operations in a hands-on park environment.

You will learn water treatment operations, study for a water license, and collaborate with NPS staff to safeguard water resources while serving in a full-time, on-site role at

Qualifications

• US citizen/national or lawful permanent resident
• 18+ (Veterans up to 35)
• Has a HS diploma or equivalent and agrees to obtain one if needed
• Willing to provide information for a National Service Criminal History Check
• Capable of noticing and diagnosing utility problems
• Able to work in a team and stay flexible
• Organized, detail-oriented and eager to learn new skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in oversight of a Parkwide Utility Infrastructure Project
• Assist in technical review of Water/Wastewater components
• Observe contractors and participate in meeting updates
• Operate light vehicles to access systems
• Collect water samples and perform tests per standards
• Record data on forms and reports
• Perform minor repairs to plumbing and chemical feed systems
• Maintain pumphouses, treatment plants, labs and vehicles
• Analyze water results and adjust treatment
• Assist with wastewater maintenance and pumping
• Vegetation removal around wells and sheds
• Complete paperwork and draft reports
• Shadow other staff to gain exposure to park operations
• Support data collection, fleet management and inventory
