Job summary

Sewa International AmeriCorps Atlanta seeks volunteers to serve as tutors and Supplementary Intervention Specialists for children in Dekalb and Fulton Counties. The program blends online classes on weekdays with in-person sessions on Saturdays to boost reading, writing, English and STEM.

Launched in 2022 and now in its fifth year, it serves 240 students with 120 showing progress. Benefits include a living allowance, an education award and a stipend; applicants must be 18+, have a high school

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Age 18+ to 70.
• Languages: Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Meet with parents and create awareness about the program.
• Maintain community connections with parents and students at apartment complexes.
• Facilitate interaction with community members at apartment complexes.
• Spend 4 hours per week onsite for activities.
• Attend weekly meetings and training.
• Assist with kid enrollment and parent sessions with Program Director.
• Help with food distribution services.
• Communicate with tutors to assess students’ needs.
• Maintain timesheets and hours with students, parents, site visits, meetings.
