Job summary

Pierce Conservation District is seeking an Outreach and Education Coordinator to support a diverse volunteers network in the Puget Sound region and bolster outreach efforts. You will develop content, assist with educational workshops, and help deliver lessons and field trip programs.

The role focuses on engaging audiences in conservation, equity in service delivery, and building skills for a career in communications. Evening/weekend work and travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of water quality, ecosystems, and environmental education concepts.
  • Ability to communicate with wide variety of audiences.
  • Experience with social media campaigns, or a desire to learn about communication campaigns.
  • Familiarity with or desire to learn communication software programs such as Canva, Adobe products, and CRM systems.
  • A track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with or among a diverse group of volunteers.
  • Detail-oriented, excellent organization, time management, and task prioritization abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Office 365 suite of software programs.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to serve evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to and passion for locally led conservation and community improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and coordinate school visits and field trips with the Environmental Education team at PCD.
  • Provide educational components and collect stories, photos, and videos from habitat restoration work parties.
  • Assist with planning and execution of major community events.
  • Assist the Salmon in the Schools program.
  • Represent the District at general outreach events.
  • Contribute to general District outreach materials such as website blog, outreach mailers, and social media posting.
  • Assist the Communications Team with video projects as needed and publish workshop recordings on the website.
  • Provide assistance at smaller-scale virtual and in-person events and workshops, such as school field trips and farm tours.
  • Assist with other projects according to need or interest.
