Job summary

Interlingva is looking for an independent contractor interpreter to provide professional ASL-English interpretation in healthcare settings across the San Francisco Bay Area. Assignments are on-site in SF, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Contra Costa, and Marin counties, with flexible scheduling based on demand and interpreter qualifications.

Prior medical interpretation experience and knowledge of healthcare terminology are preferred.

Qualifications

The interpreter will provide professional interpreting services primarily in healthcare settings. Job site locations are mainly in San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Contra Costa, and Marin counties, available on a regular basis, depending on the demand for specific languages and the interpreters' qualifications.

Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language and English
• Demonstrated experience providing accurate, complete, and clear interpretation in medical, and community settings, with the highest level of fidelity to the original communication
• Strong ability to interpret in American Sign Language and English
• Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
• Skilled in meeting the communication needs of medical professionals, patients, government agencies, community organizations, and internal stakeholders
• Combination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant professional experience
• Willingness to obtain required medical clearances, including vaccination/immunization records and background checks, as necessary
• Possession of a valid California license
