Global Language System LLC has an upcoming requirement for American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation Services to assist a client in Greenville, SC.

Responsibilities and Duties

The ASL Interpreter shall provide onsite, unclassified ASL/English receptive and expressive simultaneous interpretation in various settings, both alone and in teams. Responsibilities include conveying all cultural and linguistic information embedded in the message, interpreting expressively and receptively using manual and oral methods, maintaining confidentiality, and communicating effectively in signing, oral, and written forms. The interpreter must keep detailed records and meet schedules and deadlines.

Qualifications and Skills

The qualified ASL Interpreter must:

  • Possess advanced, accurate voicing skills to mediate between spoken English and ASL, both culturally and linguistically.
  • Be familiar with the terminology and provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Have skills in a broad range of interpreting assignments.
  • Possess a general knowledge of specialized vocabulary, including medical terminology, supply chain management jargon, and business vernacular.

The candidate shall have at least one of the following certifications:

  • National Interpreter Certification (NIC)
  • Certificate of Interpretation (CI)
  • Certificate of Transliteration (CT)
