American Sign Language Instructor Passaic County

Pay Rate: $75 – $80 per hour (each session is a minimum of 2 hours)

Position Overview

Priority Groups is seeking a qualified and passionate American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor to join our team in New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ASL, a deep understanding of Deaf culture, and the ability to create engaging, inclusive learning experiences for students of varying skill levels.

This position involves lesson planning, classroom instruction, evaluating student progress, and fostering awareness of Deaf culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach ASL to students at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to student needs.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Promote cultural awareness and understanding of the Deaf community.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Collaborate with Priority Groups staff to ensure program success.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and strong English communication skills.
  • Prior experience teaching ASL.
  • Knowledge of Deaf culture and commitment to inclusive education.
  • RID certification, teaching credentials, or relevant certifications (preferred but not required).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a classroom effectively.

Compensation & Schedule

  • $75 – $80 per hour
  • Each session is 2 hours long
