Job summary

Veterans Health Administration is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide and oversee comprehensive perioperative nursing care. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care across age-specific needs within the operating suite and related settings.

Responsibilities include pre-operative assessments, IV starts, consent and H&P validations, post-operative monitoring and thorough documentation in the EHR.

Qualifications

• The RN must use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care.
• Pre-operative and procedural nursing assessment, consent, H&P validations and venipuncture.
• Documentation of all phases of care in the EHR with accuracy and timeliness.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-operative/procedural care including nursing assessment and consent.
• Perform IV starts, venipuncture, and assist with blocks and labs as required.
• Deliver clear preoperative teaching and discharge instructions to patients and families.
• Monitor post-operative patients after anesthesia/sedation and identify adverse signs.
• Maintain ASPAN standards and contribute to safe, high-quality care within the team.
