Ambulatory services are rapidly expanding across primary care, hospital-based clinics, specialty clinics, and retail/specialty pharmacy settings. Position Summary

The Ambulatory Pharmacy Clinical Manager will oversee a growing ambulatory line of business and collaborate closely with health system leadership to align operations and execute strategic initiatives.

This leader will manage daily operations with the support of two supervisors and provide oversight to a diverse team of ambulatory clinical pharmacists, residents, and pharmacy technicians. Service lines include Primary Care, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Weight Management, Asthma, Allergy & Immunology, and other specialty programs.

The role will drive the development and implementation of new clinical programs, support population health initiatives, and cultivate a culture centered on collaboration, innovation, and professional development. Strong clinical expertise combined with operational, regulatory, and billing knowledge across physician and hospital settings is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop ambulatory clinical pharmacists, residents, and pharmacy technicians
  • Partner with pharmacy leadership, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to advance strategic initiatives
  • Develop and execute plans to expand and enhance ambulatory clinical pharmacy programs
  • Participate in system-wide committees and quality improvement initiatives
Clinical & Operational Management
  • Oversee daily ambulatory pharmacy operations
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, billing, and accreditation standards
  • Implement and monitor clinical protocols and collaborative practice agreements
  • Optimize service lines including endocrinology, pulmonology, weight management, allergy/immunology, geriatrics, and chronic disease management
  • Support centralized disease management models (e.g., diabetes, statin therapy)
  • Lead design, implementation, and evaluation of new clinical services and care models
  • Support program expansion, medication access initiatives, and financial assistance workflows
  • Drive performance improvement initiatives using data and analytics to measure outcomes
Education & Professional Development
  • Oversee privileging, credentialing, and staff development programs
  • Serve as mentor and preceptor for residents and professional development initiatives
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and clinical excellence
  • Foster strong interdisciplinary relationships
  • Engage with external partners, payors, and community stakeholders
  • Represent the pharmacy department in leadership and professional organizations
Qualifications
  • PharmD from an ACPE-accredited institution
  • Completion of PGY-2 ambulatory care residency, PGY1/2 HSPAL, or equivalent experience
  • Leadership experience required (three years of healthcare supervision preferred)
  • Pharmacy licensure (or eligibility) in Indiana and Ohio
  • Demonstrated expertise in ambulatory clinical operations, regulatory compliance, and program development
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Board certification (e.g., BCACP)
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MHA, MPH)
  • Experience in population health, chronic disease management, and collaborative practice agreements
