Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under physician/provider supervision. The role includes venipuncture, vaccines, vital signs, patient exams, and clerical support.

You will float to other sites within the system, participate in daily huddles, and assist with patient preparation, education, and care coordination in a high-reliability environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Less than 1 year of ambulatory care experience required; externship preferred.
• For Cardiology offices only: 6 months experience in ambulatory care preferred or related degree.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient exams and education, and support a smooth patient flow.
• Document care activities in the EMR and retrieve referrals or test results.
• Perform selected Point of Care tests and basic vitals assessment.
• Provide telephone screening and triage per protocol.
• Floats to multiple sites within the system as needed.
