Job Information Exemption Status: Non-Exempt A Brief Overview The Pulmonary Clinic LPN is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the clinic, including the delegation of defined tasks to Nursing Assistant(s) in order to achieve quality patient care while providing a safe environment for patients. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, patient assessment and triage, excellent communication and customer service skills, counseling and educating patients related to pulmonary and sleep conditions and disease processes. The Pulmonary LPN prepares patient charts with necessary medical information from referring physicians for office appointments. The Pulmonary LPN rooms pulmonary/sleep clinic patients, takes vital signs and reports patient concerns or pertinent observations to provider. The Pulmonary LPN is responsible for coordination of tests and services, assisting physicians with procedures, and accurate documentation of all patient related activities. May also perform procedures and testing under indirect physician supervision. Experience Qualifications* Experience in a clinic setting. Preferred* Experience providing patient care. Preferred* Demonstrates consistent use of Standard Precautions and proper body mechanics and follows OSHA guidelines (Required proficiency)* Demonstrates knowledge of the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act and follows the statutes and regulations therein. Required* Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.* Assist with checking in, examinations and procedures.* Administer prescribed medications and treatments. Clarify medication orders and refills to pharmacies as directed by providers.* Triage patient telephone calls, evaluating the physical and psychosocial health status of the patient.* Coordinate patient services to include: lab tests, point of care testing, x-rays, diagnostic procedures, consults, home care, and acute care admissions.* Provide patient education regarding medications, lab tests, x-rays, and procedures. Notify patients of test results and provider disposition.* Document medical information using the appropriate electronic applications and/or forms.* Assess patient rooms and surrounding areas for safety issues.
