Job summary

The Ambulatory Infusion Pharmacy Technician will report to the Pharmacy System Director for ambulatory infusion and support a registered pharmacist with dispensing activities, preparing doses per USP 797 standards. This role is based on site at MUSC Karesh Hospital, serving HCC Karesh House Oncology clinics and infusion patient needs. Education: High School Degree or Equivalent.

• 2 years work experience in pharmacy-related role preferred.
• Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the SC Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP) and national certification (PTCB/ExCPT) required and maintained.

Job Description

The Ambulatory Infusion Pharmacy Technician will report to the Pharmacy System Director for ambulatory infusion. Assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Prepares hazardous and non-hazardous doses in accordance to USP 797 standards. Receives and stocks incoming supplies, assist with inventory management. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department.

This position will be based on site at MUSC Kershaw Hospital, servicing HCC Karesh House Oncology clinics and infusion patient needs, including management of patient assistance medication needs and clinical trial support, as needed, and delivery of medications to the infusion suite.

Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP)is required and must be maintained. Must obtain and maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)) certification:

• Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 1 year of 11/1/2023.
• New Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 6 months of hire.
• New team members who are enrolled or will enroll ina pharmacy technician training program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and/or recognized by PTCB, have 30 days post program completion to obtain certification.
