Must attend our next available EMS Academy to obtain EMT-Basic license.

TN has a state requirement to obtain your EMT certification within 1 year of employment.

An employee in this class functions as an Ambulance Operator performing defensive driving in the delivery of EMS through the response of transport of patients for First Call Ambulance.

Responsibilities
  • Drive an emergency or non-emergency vehicle in the appropriate mode using defensive driving training techniques, if so trained to do so.
  • Abide by the policies, procedures, and protocols of the company.
  • Appearance, conduct, and attitude reflect a professional image in a caring manner at all times.
  • Work cooperatively with other employees, health care personnel, patients, family members, etc.
  • Refrain from smoking in company vehicles, buildings, and refrains from smoking in other buildings and vehicles owned by others while representing the company.
  • Report accidents, problems, incidents, failed equipment or vehicles, worker’s compensation injuries, etc. to the company as soon as possible.
  • Complete required training and education to keep certifications and requirements for this job class current.
  • Attend in-services, and other quality assurance activities.
  • Participate in public relation activities as it pertains to the company or EMS.
  • Complete inventory of vehicles and equipment as requested.
  • Complete special tasks that pertain to the operation of the company or its improvements.
  • Ensure that First Call Ambulance is meeting and/or exceeding all local, state and federal requirements.
  • Provide written reports to supervisor and/or management staff as necessary or required.
  • Promote First Call Ambulance marketing strategies consistent with the marketing plan in all aspects personal and professional.
  • Work closely with all employees, supervisors, managers, and other departments to enhance First Call Ambulance strategies.
  • Attend all required and mandatory training sessions, seminars, and workshops to enhance personal knowledge in all aspects of First Call Ambulance lines of business.
  • Maintain First Call Ambulance core values and stay focused on our mission in the community.
  • Always display conduct becoming of a First Call Ambulance staff member.
  • Perform other functions as necessary and/or required by First Call Ambulance management.
Patient Care Responsibilities
  • Help patients onto ambulance stretcher and load them into the ambulance, assisted by partner or other medical personnel.
  • Transport patient to assigned medical facility, unload patient and take patient inside facility and to where directed by medical personnel.
  • Accompany EMTs and paramedics on emergency calls to transport patients to hospitals when assigned to do so.
Qualifications
  • Must have an active driver’s license with F endorsement in the state the employee resides.
  • Maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass a physical ability test and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Willingness to participate in on-the-job training.
  • Maintain all HIPAA regulations.
  • Background in healthcare, licensed emergency medical responder, volunteer fire fighter, law enforcement, military, security and/or customer service preferred but not required.
