Alto Section Leader: St. Anne, Gilbert AZ

St. Anne Roman Catholic Parish has an immediate opening for an alto section leader. The ideal candidate will be a practicing Catholic (others will also be considered) with the following qualities:

• Reverence for the Catholic Liturgy celebrated in accord with tradition.
• Mature, resonant voice with warm choral tone.
• Strong sight reading abilities, including fluency in sol-feg and excellent rhythmic accuracy.
• Familiarity with Gregorian chant notation and/or willingness to quickly learn it.
• Willingness to sing challenging music alongside volunteers of various levels of ability, bringing a pleasant and collaborative spirit to the ensemble.

Responsibilities include regular Wednesday night rehearsals from September through early June (6:30-8:30pm). The section leader should be willing to assist the director as needed with sectional coaching. Most Sundays: Solemn Liturgy at 11am (10am call with Mass lasting until approximately 12:30pm), plus Solemn evening Liturgies for holy days. Holidays: Christmas Midnight Mass and multiple Liturgies during Holy Week. Additional cantor or small group opportunities likely during the summer months.

Stipend: Rehearsal @ $60; Warmup and Mass @ $80.

Schola Immaculata is an auditioned SATB ensemble with 3-5 voices per section. Repertoire is Gregorian chant, traditional hymnody, and a cappella (or accompanied) motets and anthems from Renaissance onward.

Safe Environment Requirements as per the Diocese must be met, and protocols followed for reception of Holy Communion, as well as choir attire guidelines.
