Job summary

Neiman Marcus seeks an experienced Tailor to conduct alterations, resizing and restyling of luxury merchandise across stores. You will support fitters with expertise on fit, alteration methods, and fabric behavior, ensuring high-quality outcomes.

The role requires reading instructions in English and performing precise measurements and adjustments. Responsibilities include transforming garments to meet exacting quality standards, maintaining sewing equipment, and inspecting finished work.

Qualifications

• Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment; variety of garment styles and fabrics preferred.
• Ability to read English and understand instructions from management.

Responsibilities

• Alter constructed garments to Neiman Marcus quality standards, equal or better than original construction.
• Alter seams, shoulders, sleeves, collars, and hems as needed.
• Rotate, shorten, reline, or remake pieces; operate sewing equipment.
• Self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards.
• Complete alterations as assigned by Supervisor/Lead; follow written and oral instructions.
• Recognize different fabric types and garment constructions to maintain fit and quality.
• Support fitters by providing accurate alterations and measurements.
• Adhere to safety and maintenance guidelines for sewing equipment.

Job Description

YOU WILL BE:

As a Tailor, you will be conducting alterations, resizing and restyling of all merchandise retailed in Neiman Marcus stores. You will assist fitters in achieving their goals with professional assistance with fit, alterability, and structural quality of apparel merchandise.

What You Will Do

• Alter constructed garments to meet the standard of quality set by Neiman Marcus equal or better than original construction
• Alter seams vented or unvented, take in shoulder blades, reduce chest, narrow shoulders.
• Rotate sleeves, shorten sleeves
• Shorten back, shorten collar, and square shoulders
• Shorten coat, re-line coat, or remake inside or outside pockets
• Operate and maintain all sewing equipment
• Self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
• Complete alterations assigned tasks, as assigned by Supervisor/Lead
• nterpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form
• Complete tasks assigned by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead

What You Will Bring

• Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and types of fabrics, is preferred.
• Ability to read English and understand instruction by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure

Salary And Other Benefits

The starting salary for this position is between $21.00 - $26.00 hourly. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include market, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Salary Range $31.26 - $39.07*

Compensation for this role varies by geographic location. The listed range reflects multiple markets, including higher-cost areas. Actual starting pay will be determined based on work location, experience, and other job-related factors.
