Job summary

Von Maur in Oklahoma City is seeking an Alterations Associate to tailor various women's garments, from beaded formal dresses to tailored outfits, contributing to our store's reputation for exceptional service.

You will greet customers, take measurements, and perform alterations with care, ensuring quality finishes. This role emphasizes strong customer interaction in a fast-paced department store, with opportunities for growth within the alterations team.

• Own the customer experience by greeting and thanking every customer.
• Measure, fit, mark, and pin garments to customer specifications.
• Disassemble, sew and reassemble garments; prep with iron/steam for customers.
• Repair damaged or defective merchandise.
• Maintain a clean department and work area.

Job description

As an Alterations Associate, your unique skills contribute to our reputation as America’s Leading Department Store. In addition to general alterations, you will alter diverse styles of women’s garments varying from formal dresses with beading to tailored clothing.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Own the customer experience – greet people sincerely, be friendly and thank every customer
• Measure, fit, mark, and pin garments according to customer specifications
• Disassemble, sew and/or reassemble garments according to measurements taken during fitting – use iron and steamer to prepare garments for customers
• Repair damaged or defective merchandise
• Garment work may range from basic to moderately difficult sewing/alteration procedures
• Maintain a clean department and work area

Candidates must be professionally competent in all basic and most advanced alterations.
