Job summary

Neiman Marcus, a Saks Global luxury retailer, seeks a Tailor to alter and resize merchandise sold in Neiman Marcus stores. You will support fitters and ensure high-quality alterations across various garment types.

Responsibilities include operating sewing equipment, inspecting quality, and completing assigned alterations with guidance from supervisors, while reading and following instructions in English, and applying basic math for measurements and conversions.

Qualifications

• Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment.
• Ability to read English and understand instruction from Manager/Supervisor/Lead.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide).

Responsibilities

• Alter constructed garments to Neiman Marcus quality standards, equal or better than original construction.
• Alter seams, shoulders, sleeves, back, collar, coat, pockets as needed.
• Operate and maintain sewing equipment and self-inspect work.
• Complete alterations tasks as assigned by Supervisor/Lead.
• Interpret written and oral instructions.
• Assist fitters to achieve goals with professional alteration support.

YOU WILL BE:

As a Tailor, you will be conducting alterations, resizing and restyling of all merchandise retailed in Neiman Marcus stores. You will assist fitters in achieving their goals with professional assistance with fit, alterability, and structural quality of apparel merchandise.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Alter constructed garments to meet the standard of quality set by Neiman Marcus equal or better than original construction
• Alter seams vented or unvented, take in shoulder blades, reduce chest, narrow shoulders.
• Rotate sleeves, shorten sleeves
• Shorten back, shorten collar, and square shoulders
• Shorten coat, re-line coat, or remake inside or outside pockets
• Operate and maintain all sewing equipment
• Self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
• Complete alterations assigned tasks, as assigned by Supervisor/Lead
• nterpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form
• Complete tasks assigned by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

• Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and types of fabrics, is preferred.
• Ability to read English and understand instruction by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure

Salary Range $28.54 - $35.67*

Compensation for this role varies by geographic location. The listed range reflects multiple markets, including higher-cost areas. Actual starting pay will be determined based on work location, experience, and other job-related factors.
