Qualifications

  • EMT-P paramedic certification required or equivalent.
  • Ability to assess acute and chronically ill patients and communicate findings clearly.
  • Experience with ED workflows and emergency response protocols.
  • PA EMT-P Paramedic certification upon Hire or National Registry Paramedic upon Hire.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in an individualized patient care plan as established by the treatment team.
  • Implements orders/directives promptly, and identifies the purpose of each order.
  • Performs clinical tasks and procedures within EMT-P scope.
  • Assists with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Participates on emergency response teams (RRTs, code blues, trauma) within EMT-P scope.
  • Assists RN in transporting critically ill/injured patients and monitors respiratory status.
  • Serves as department liaison for EMS and ensures EMS equipment care.
  • Assists in coordinating decontamination/mass casualty responses.

ALS TECHNICAL PARTNER - PART TIME NIGHTSLVH - HELLERTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD HOSPITAL
Summary

The ALS Technical Partner is an EMT-P who assists in providing quality care both directly and indirectly to patients throughout their treatment course within the Emergency Department (ED). The ALS Technical Partner will work in cooperation with the treatment team (providers, nurses, ancillary support, etc.) to provide professional care to patients seeking treatment in the ED. The ALS Technical Partner will function in adherence to established policies and procedures in a manner conducive to the safety and comfort of the patient. ALS Technical Partners will be under the direct supervision of the ED providers and nurses.

Job Duties
  • Participates in an individualized patient care plan as established by the treatment team.
  • Implements orders/directives consistently, promptly, and accurately while being able to identify the purpose of each order/directive.
  • Independently, within scope, performs clinical tasks and procedures.
  • Assists with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Participates as a member of appropriate emergency response teams (dependent upon facility structure) including but not limited to RRTs, code blues, and trauma activations practicing within their EMT-P scope of practice to assist the team.
  • Assists Registered Nurse in the transport of critically ill/injured patients and assists in monitoring respiratory status, endotracheal tube position, oxygenation, and ventilation.
  • Serves as a department liaison for EMS, both air and ground.
  • Ensures EMS equipment is properly taken care of including retrieval, cleaning, storage, and return to EMS agencies.
  • Assists in restocking of EMS agencies.
  • Assists in coordinating decontamination/mass casualty events.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to assess needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families.
  • Ability to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and/or paper documentation tools.
  • Demonstrates age-specific competencies in the care of neonates, infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers, school aged, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions.
  • Must be able to apply advance knowledge and training, developing and executing a plan of care, and rapidly intervene in life-saving procedures.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - American Heart Association Upon Hire and
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association Upon Hire and
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association Upon Hire and
  • PA EMT-P Paramedic - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
  • Paramedic - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Upon Hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree
  • 2 years experience in advanced life support service.
  • PHTLS - Prehospital Trauma Life Support - National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians Upon Hire
  • Paramedic - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Upon Hire
Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
