Job summary

Transforming Age is seeking servers for AlmaVia of San Rafael to provide friendly, resident‑focused dining service in the evenings. You will present menus, take orders, and ensure meals are served promptly and properly.

The role requires prior server experience, comfort with POS systems, and adherence to food safety rules. The position offers part‑time evening hours at AlmaVia of San Rafael, CA.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Previous server experience preferred.
• 6 months or more in long‑term care, home care or related field preferred.
• POS experience with transactional systems.
• Must possess effective English verbal and written communication skills.
• Must obtain valid First Aid certification within 30 days of hire (Title 22).
• Must obtain a California Food Handler Card (or ServSafe) within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Creates a warm, positive dining atmosphere through excellent customer service.
• Presents menus to residents, explains daily meal options, and provides suggestions as needed.
• Answers questions about menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods.
• Records food orders accurately and relays them to the kitchen.
• Delivers meals and beverages promptly, ensuring appropriate temperatures are maintained.
• Observes residents to identify and fulfill additional needs or requests.
• Assists residents with salad and breakfast bar selections and deliveries.
• Clears, cleans, and resets tables for upcoming meal services.
• Supports daily dining room setup, including coffee, desserts, and soup/salad bar preparation.
• Follows established food service policies and infection control procedures.
• Maintains safe and sanitary work areas.
• Promotes Transforming Age culture and values across responsibilities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Location: AlmaVia of San Rafael, 515 Northgate Drive, San Rafael, CA 94903.

Actual pay: $17.50 to $22.95 per hour (DOE). Pay decision based on experience, skills and training.

Work Hours: 3:00 pm – 7:30 pm.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Need To Succeed

• At least 18 years of age.
• Previous server experience highly preferred.
• 6 months or more in long‑term care, home care or related field preferred.
• Software experience using POS (point‑of‑sale) transactional systems.
• Must possess effective English verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess or obtain valid First Aid certification within 30 days of hire, as required by Title 22.
• Must obtain a valid California Food Handler Card (or ServSafe equivalent) within 30 days of hire and maintain compliance with food‑safety regulations.
