Job Description
Virginia Peninsula Community College is a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. It primarily serves the residents of the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York.
Provides instructional leadership for assigned noncredit Workforce Development Allied Health programs while maintaining a substantial teaching assignment. Plans, develops, delivers, coordinates, evaluates, and continuously improves Allied Health workforce training programs to meet workforce demand, regulatory requirements, and employer expectations. Serves as the primary instructional resource for assigned programs by providing curriculum leadership, instructor support, program coordination and leadership, employer engagement, and continuous quality improvement. Supports the College's mission by preparing learners for successful employment, career advancement, continued education, industry credential attainment, and long-term economic mobility through high-quality workforce education and strategic employer partnerships.
This is a full-time restricted classified position. Continuation of employment is based on funding availability.
This position is designated as Campus Security Authority (Clery Act) and Responsible Employee (Title IX).
Minimum Qualifications
Required
- Current licensure, certification, registration, or other professional credentials that qualify the incumbent to teach assigned noncredit healthcare workforce programs in accordance with applicable regulatory, accrediting, and credentialing requirements.
- Demonstrated experience developing, delivering, coordinating, or evaluating adult education, workforce training, or healthcare education programs.
- Demonstrated experience teaching, training, or facilitating instruction for adult learners. Demonstrated experience working within the healthcare industry or healthcare education environment.
- Demonstrated experience working within applicable regulatory, credentialing, or accreditation requirements governing healthcare workforce education.
Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of the regulatory, credentialing, and instructional requirements governing noncredit Healthcare Workforce programs, including applicable Virginia Board of Nursing, FastForward, and industry standards.
- Thorough knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, curriculum development, and effective instructional practices.
- Thorough knowledge of workforce development program planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
- General knowledge of budgeting principles, procurement processes, and operating financially self-sustaining programs.
- Working knowledge of data collection, reporting, and performance metrics used to evaluate program effectiveness. Skills (examples) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, learning management systems, and other instructional technologies.

- Experience supporting curriculum development, instructional quality, and continuous program improvement.
- Experience developing partnerships with healthcare employers, clinical partners, or workforce organizations.
