SH Allergy, Asthma & Immunology in San Francisco and Marin County is hiring a full-time allergist/immunologist to provide comprehensive adult and pediatric care. The role combines clinic and supervision of the shot clinic with a collaborative team of nurses, medical assistants, and support staff.

Ideal candidates hold an MD/DO with ACGME-accredited allergy/immunology fellowship and are board-certified or eligible. California license and DEA registration are required or eligible.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completed ACGME-accredited allergy/immunology fellowship.
• Board-certified or board-eligible (ABAI).
• California medical license, or eligible to obtain one before start.
• Active DEA registration, or eligible.
• Strong clinical judgment and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide full-scope adult and pediatric allergy/immunology care including rhinitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis, urticaria and angioedema, food and drug allergy, venom allergy, and eosinophilic disorders.
• Supervise shot clinic and consider OIT for appropriate pediatric patients.
• Perform and interpret skin testing, patch testing, spirometry; supervise challenges.
• Prescribe and oversee subcutaneous and sublingual immunotherapy; supervise on-site shot clinic.
• Manage biologic therapy for asthma and related conditions.
• See patients by video visit as part of the schedule.
• Document and code accurately in Epic in a timely manner.
• Order allergen immunotherapy and adjust injection protocols.
• Participate in practice-wide protocol, safety, and quality work; peer learning with allergists.
• Build referral relationships with primary care and specialty colleagues in Marin and San Francisco.

About the practice

SH Allergy, Asthma & Immunology is hiring a full-time allergist/immunologist to practice in San Francisco and Marin County. We are the allergy division of SH Medical, a physician-led multispecialty group that has been in existence since 1940. Our allergy practice has served the Bay Area for decades and now sees patients in three locations in San Francisco, San Rafael, and San Mateo. The multispecialty group is comprised of ENT physicians, voice and swallowing specialists, audiologists, and physical therapists.

The role

This is a full-time outpatient position split between our San Francisco (Union Square) and San Rafael offices. The San Rafael office is a growing site and we are looking for a physician comfortable practicing independently and supervising shot clinic. You will join a collegial and collaborative team of allergists. Experienced nurses, medical assistants, front desk, billing, and a dedicated biologics coordinator support every clinic and physician.

Responsibilities

• Provide full-scope adult and pediatric allergy/immunology care: rhinitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis, urticaria and angioedema, food and drug allergy, venom allergy, eosinophilic disorders and immunodeficiency
• Familiarity and consideration of OIT, particularly in infant/toddler aged children and expertise in this area would be appreciated
• Perform and interpret skin testing, patch testing, spirometry. Supervise food and drug challenges, including penicillin allergy evaluation
• Prescribe and oversee subcutaneous immunotherapy (including cluster build-up) and sublingual immunotherapy, and supervise the on-site shot clinic
• Manage biologic therapy for asthma, atopic dermatitis, urticaria, chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps, and related conditions
• See patients by video visit as part of the schedule
• Document and code accurately and in a timely fashion in our electronic health record, Epic
• Order allergen immunotherapy and adjust shot injection protocols through Xtract
• Take part in practice-wide protocol, safety and quality work, and in peer learning with fellow allergists
• Build referral relationships with primary care and specialty colleagues in Marin and San Francisco

• Board certified or board eligible (ABAI)
• California medical license, or eligible to obtain one before start
• Active DEA registration, or eligible
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to patient-centered care
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff

Preferred

• At least 2 years of independent practice after fellowship
• Experience with cluster immunotherapy, patch testing and biologics
• Comfort caring for both adults and children
• Interest in practice improvement and teamwork across sites

Compensation and benefits

• Guaranteed base salary of $250,000–$[upper end] per year, moving to productivity
