Responsibilities

• Daily chicken care and egg collection.
• Wash, weigh, grade and sort eggs.
• Care for dogs, cats and pigs on the farm.
• Assist with general farm maintenance and labor tasks.
• Monitor animal health and report concerns promptly.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, brooders, coops and workspaces.
• Manage pen turnovers and chicken growout pen rearrangements.

Deer Run Farm is seeking a reliable, hardworking individual to join our team as a full‑time farmhand supporting daily hatchery and farm operations. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with animals, values hands‑on work and takes pride in being part of a small farm family. Much of the responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• daily chicken care and egg collection
• washing, weighing, grading, and sorting eggs
• dogs, cats and pig care
• assist with farm maintenance and general labor tasks
• monitor animal health and report concerns promptly
• clean and sanitize equipment, brooders, coops and workspaces
• pen turnovers and chicken growout pen reorganizing

This position requires no previous work experience nor degrees, certifications, or licenses. We ask that applicants truly consider the work that would be tasked to them to ensure they feel confident they could fill the position well. For the right candidate, we would offer a $17/hr rate with 5 paid days off and 5 paid holidays (New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day and Christmas Day). A 6-month review could lead to a $19/hr pay raise.
