Job summary

DOBBS Tire & Auto Centers is seeking an Alignment Technician to inspect, diagnose, and correct alignment and suspension issues to ensure safe vehicle handling. The role includes aligning wheels, axles, and steering components using precision equipment and performing related repairs as needed.

The ideal candidate will be detail driven, accountable, customer centric, and a team player with a strong work ethic to contribute to department goals and ensure quality service daily.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Alignment Technician or completion of an applicable post-secondary vocational/technical program in automotive repair or alignment.
  • Proficient with automotive repair tools and equipment including wheel alignment racks, tire changers, wheel balancers, hydraulic jacks, and basic welding/testing tools.
  • Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Aligns wheels, axles, frames, and steering components using alignment equipment and manufacturer specs.
  • Drives vehicles onto racks and conducts tests to identify misalignments or damaged parts.
  • Performs repairs/adjustments based on diagnostic findings.
  • Mounts/dismounts tires and balances wheels with a balance machine.
  • Includes basic service work and inspections as needed.

We are seeking an Alignment Technician. The Alignment Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and correcting alignment and suspension issues to ensure proper vehicle handling and safety. This includes aligning wheels, axles, frames, and steering components using precision alignment equipment and performing related repairs as needed. The role also involves mounting and balancing tires, conducting vehicle inspections, and completing general service work. The technician utilizes specialized tools and equipment to restore proper alignment, maintain vehicle performance, and deliver quality service to every customer. The ideal candidate will be detailed driven, accountable, customer centric and a team player with a strong work ethic to contribute to the department goals and achieve results.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Aligns wheels, axles, frames, torsion bars, and steering mechanisms of automotive vehicles using alignment equipment and manufacturer specifications.
  • Drives vehicles onto alignment racks and conducts tests to identify issues such as faulty alignments, bent axles, worn ball joints, and damaged steering components.
  • Performs necessary repair and adjustment work based on diagnostic findings.
  • Mounts and dismounts tires; balances wheels using a balancing machine and installs counterweights to ensure smooth operation.
  • Conducts miscellaneous diagnostic and service work, including state inspections, installation of shock absorbers, lubrication services, and basic tune-ups.
  • Straightens vehicle frames using hydraulic jacks, chassis aligners, and acetylene torches as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment and adheres to all company and safety standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Extended periods of standing, bending, and lifting tires or equipment.
  • Requires adherence to all safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Alignment Technician; or successful completion of an applicable post-secondary vocational or technical program in automotive repair or alignment.
  • Proficient with automotive repair tools and equipment, including wheel alignment racks, tire changers, wheel balancers, hydraulic jacks, and basic welding and testing tools.
  • Valid Drivers’ Licenses
