Job summary

The Los Angeles LGBT Center is seeking an ALHP RN Manager to lead clinical services within the Health Services department in Los Angeles. This full-time role focuses on coordinating cancer screening programs, reproductive health, quality improvement, and community outreach under the Associate Director, Clinical Nursing.

You will mentor staff, develop nursing-led protocols, collaborate with external specialists, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of direct patient care experience, preferably in gynecologic or reproductive health.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of medical, reproductive, and sexual health needs of LGBTQ women and non-binary individuals.
  • Understanding of barriers faced by this population in accessing care.
  • Commitment to body-and-sex-positive, trauma-informed, and harm reduction clinical practice.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY

The Health Services department provides specialized medical and mental health services to the LGBTQ community, focusing on primary care and research to improve health outcomes for this population.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Associate Director, Clinical Nursing, the ALHP RN Manager coordinates clinical services for LBTQ women and non- binary individuals, focusing on cancer screening programs, reproductive and gynecologic care, quality improvement, community outreach, and health education. This role dedicates approximately 80% of time to clinical program coordination and 20% to administrative and outreach activities.

The manager supports clinical workflows, liaises with external specialists and community organizations, assists in developing nursing-led clinical protocols, and contributes as a key member of the Health Services Leadership and Nurse Management teams, collaborating closely with medical leadership and the quality improvement team. The position does not have independent authority to approve clinical protocols or program changes and does not have formal supervisory responsibilities but involves mentoring, training, and coordinating staff workflows.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Clinical Program Coordination
  • Coordinate cervical and breast cancer screening programs, including staff and patient education, screening event logistics, EHR reporting support, and follow-up management of abnormal results.
  • Develop and support clinical workflows to enhance care team coordination and service delivery.
Clinical Support
  • Assist the Medical Director of Gynecologic and Reproductive Health Services in preparation and follow-up of clinical encounters and procedures.
  • Support implementation of new reproductive and gynecologic health
Relationship and Outreach Coordination
  • Maintain professional relationships with external gynecology and breast surgery specialists to facilitate care coordination.
  • Collaborate with community program staff to identify and participate in outreach events for health education and patient recruitment.
  • Establish connections with organizations serving LBTQ women and non-binary individuals with high psychosocial needs, including criminal/jail systems and community agencies.
Health Education
  • Work with Marketing and Communications to develop patient education and health promotion materials specific to ALHP.
  • Provide education sessions to staff, patients, and community members on ALHP health topics.
Compliance and Participation
  • Participate in nurse manager meetings, care coordination meetings (MDCC and ICP), and other department meetings.
  • Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Continue participation in relevant meetings and compliance activities as needed.
DECISION-MAKING SCOPE

Makes routine operational decisions related to program coordination and clinical support. Provides recommendations to supervisors on clinical workflows and program improvements. Does not have independent budget, staffing, or policy authority and cannot approve clinical protocols or program changes independently.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities. Supports workflow coordination, mentoring, training, and clinical team collaboration under supervision of Associate Director, Clinical Nursing.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of three years of direct patient care experience, preferably in gynecologic or reproductive health settings.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of medical, reproductive, and sexual health needs of LBTQ women and non-binary individuals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working in clinics using Epic EHR.
  • BSN or MSN degree.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
  • Passion for the Center’s mission and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment with diverse populations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use for documentation and communication. Frequent verbal communication with staff, patients, and community members. Ability to attend outreach events which may require mobility and standing. No heavy lifting or unusual physical demands indicated.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS

Primarily office and clinical environment within a healthcare setting. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including clinical, community programs, and marketing. Exposure to a fast-paced healthcare environment with confidentiality requirements. Occasional participation in community outreach events. Standard schedule with potential for some variability based on program needs.
