Job summary

Alert Alarm Hawaii seeks an Inspection Technician / Fire Technician to inspect, test, install, service, and maintain fire alarm and life-safety systems across Hawaii. You will read drawings, diagnose faults, perform repairs, and document findings for customers.

The role requires travel within the assigned territory, adherence to NFPA standards, and a commitment to safety and teamwork. A high school diploma and valid driver's license are required; NICET II or higher is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Experience in fire alarm, electrical, fire protection, security, or low‑voltage systems preferred.
• NICET II or higher and applicable manufacturer or industry certifications preferred.
• Willingness to pursue additional training and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain fire alarm and related life‑safety systems.
• Read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Diagnose system troubles, false alarms, communication failures, and defective devices.
• Perform repairs, functional testing, and system verification in accordance with applicable NFPA standards, adopted codes, manufacturer requirements, and company procedures.
• Identify and document deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and communicate findings to customers.
• Complete accurate inspection reports, service tickets, time entries, and required documentation.
• Maintain a safe, professional work environment and company‑provided equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain fire alarm and related life‑safety systems.

Work Environment

This is a field‑based position requiring travel throughout the assigned territory. Duties may include working at heights, climbing ladders, accessing mechanical and electrical rooms, and occasional overtime, on‑call, weekend, or inter‑island work.
