Job summary

The Wilderness Society is seeking an Alaska State Director to advance our conservation mission in Alaska. The Director will lead strategic initiatives, engage with diverse communities and stakeholders, and foster partnerships aimed at protecting America's wild places.

This role requires extensive experience in advocacy, strong cultural competency, and the ability to manage projects effectively. The position offers location flexibility within Alaska and a competitive salary range of $120,000-$130,000.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience working on or leading issue advocacy or political campaigns.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining strong collaborations among diverse stakeholders.
• Experience working with Alaskan Native people and communities.
• Strong knowledge of public lands, environmental, and/or conservation issues in Alaska.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of strategic program priorities in Alaska.
• Oversee implementation of projects and initiatives in Alaska.
• Engage with national staff on TWS priorities.
• Build a network to educate and influence decision-makers in the state.
• Support TWS’s mission to ensure fairness and representation.
