The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land & Water, is recruiting a Historian 2 to join the Public Access Assertion and Defense (PAAD) Section in Anchorage, Alaska.

The role involves historical research, witness interviews, and producing reports for state title determinations and litigation, with expert testimony in various forums. Collaboration with LAW, DFG, DOTPF, and other divisions is essential.

Formación

• Master's degree in history, architectural history, or closely related fields.
• One year of experience in collection, synthesis, evaluation and presentation of historical data as Historian 1 or equivalent.
• Two years of professional historical research can substitute for the degree.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct historical research of primary and secondary sources on Alaska waters and trails.
• Interview living witnesses as needed.
• Prepare professional reports for administrative, litigation, or title determinations.
• Offer expert historical testimony via affidavit, deposition, or live testimony.
