Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire and Safety is seeking an experienced technician to install and certify life safety systems, ensuring compliance with local and national codes. The role requires collaboration with site contacts, engineers, and management to complete the job on schedule.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in the alarm industry, is proficient with CCTV, access control and intrusion systems, and can operate test equipment. A lead technician capability is preferred for this position.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install and certify life safety systems per local and national codes and standards.
• Review blueprints/drawings to determine device locations.
• Meet with building engineers or site contacts to report work status.
• Verify integrity of work through tests for shorts, grounds and faults.
• Maintain vehicle inventory if assigned and report issues promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

Introduction

Make a difference, protect lives, and achieve your dreams. This position is responsible for the installation and certification of life safety systems and associated devices according to local & national codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Must be punctual. Being on time is critical due to the regular need to perform functionality tests prior to a building’s tenant arrivals.
• Review blueprints/drawings to determine device locations and placement.
• Meet with building engineers, property management and/or site contacts upon arrival to facility to notify of work status and again upon conclusion of workday.
• Verify integrity of all work prior to beginning. This may include functionality testing of installed devices, metering circuits and devices for shorts, grounds and faults.
• If assigned a company vehicle, maintain an accurate inventory of truck stock, ensure vehicle is regularly serviced and immediately report any problems with vehicle.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Education and Qualifications

• A minimum of three years of alarm industry experience is required.
• Must have CCTV, access control, and intrusion system experience.
• NICET certification preferred. Alarm license for the state is a plus.
• Shall be able demonstrate proficiency in use of test equipment.
• Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.
• Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to/from the office or job site.
• Looking for someone who can step into a lead technician role.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.

Pay

• $25 - $35 DOE & licensing.
