Job summary

Spring Harbor At Green Island in Columbus, GA seeks a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to administer medications and support residents with daily living activities. You will work under licensed nursing staff to promote safe, compassionate care and resident independence.

Minimum qualifications include GA CMA certification, high school diploma or GED, CPR/First Aid (BLS), and ability to pass background checks and health screenings. Prior senior living experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and allowed by state regulations
  • Observe residents for adverse reactions or condition changes and report to nursing staff
  • Document medication administration and resident care timely and accurately
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility
  • Take and record vitals (temperature, blood pressure, pulse) and record information
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of medication carts, resident areas, and supplies
  • Ensure infection control, safety, HIPAA, and facility policies compliance
  • Respond promptly to resident needs, emergencies, and call lights
  • Provide compassionate emotional support and companionship
  • Communicate with residents, families, healthcare providers, and team members
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed

About the Role:

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for administering medications and assisting residents with daily living activities in a senior living community. The CMA works under the supervision of licensed nursing staff to help ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and quality care while promoting independence, dignity, and well-being.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current Certified Medical Aide (CMA) certification in the state of Georgia
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • CPR and First Aid Certification- BLS from the American Heart Association
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet health screening requirements.
  • Ability to pass a Drug Screen
  • Knowledge of medication administration procedures and resident care practices
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Compassionate and patient-centered attitude
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and assist residents throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift and/or assist with moving residents according to facility policy
  • Ability to respond quickly during emergencies
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in assisted living, long-term care, memory care, or senior living
Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and permitted by state regulations
  • Observe residents for adverse reactions or changes in condition and report concerns to nursing staff
  • Document medication administration and resident care accurately and timely
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility
  • Take and record vital signs of Residents. e.g., temperature, blood pressure, pulse and raspatory & record information
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of medication carts, resident areas, and supplies
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, HIPAA, and facility policies
  • Respond promptly to resident needs, emergencies, and call lights
  • Provide compassionate emotional support and companionship to residents
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, healthcare providers, and team members
  • Assist with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Attend unit meetings as scheduled, all mandatory in-services and optional in-service per individual needs and interest , for a total of 12 hours annually
  • Outside educational offerings may be substituted for optional in-service hours by providing proof of attendance. Mandatory in-service cannot be substituted
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as may be required to meet emergency needs
  • May serve on committees, as requested

This shift is Part-Time, EOW(Every Other Weekend)
