Job summary

The Akron Fire Department is seeking Firefighter/Medics who will train through the Fire Academy with paid instruction and comprehensive benefits. After graduation, Firefighter/Medics work a schedule of 8–9 days per month, joining an inclusive team dedicated to service.

Graduates earn $34.60/hour, reflecting competitive compensation for dedicated emergency responders. The department emphasizes skill advancement, ongoing training, and career growth within an active, community-focused organization.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D.
• Candidate must be within the ages of 17 through 40 by August 31, 2026.
• Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license.
• Candidate must meet NFPA medical standards including vision and hearing requirements.
• Ability to safely perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Estab lished physical agility standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide firefighter/medic services as part of a team.
• Participate in the Fire Academy and training programs with paid training.
