Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc in the United States is seeking an Aisles Online Shopper to fulfill online grocery orders with accuracy and care. You will select the best quality produce, meat, and pantry items, and prepare orders for pickup or delivery.

This hourly role requires staying active, working independently in a fast-paced store environment, and providing friendly service. You will handle POS payments, substitutions when items are unavailable, and maintain temperature controls throughout fulfillment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and assisting them throughout the store.
• Accurately select groceries ordered online, prioritizing quality across all departments.
• Scan and bag items from all temperature zones while maintaining proper handling.
• Ensure products stay at proper temperatures during fulfillment.
• Store gathered orders at correct temperatures and retrieve them promptly.
• Prepare orders for pickup by placing them in the holding area.
• Load groceries into customer vehicles.
• Process POS payments and handle substitutions when items are unavailable.
• Monitor incoming orders to ensure timely fulfillment.
• Answer phones and emails with friendly, helpful service.
• Follow Hy-Vee dress code and department guidelines.
• Assist with other tasks or special projects as needed.

What You'll Do

• - Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting every customer warmly and assisting them with their needs throughout the store
• - Accurately select groceries ordered online by customers, choosing the highest quality produce, meat, and other fresh products
• - Select, scan, and bag items from all temperature zones
• - Ensure products maintain proper temperature throughout the entire fulfillment process
• - Place gathered orders in storage at the proper temperature and retrieve them promptly prior to the customer's arrival
• - Cart orders to and place them in the holding area for customer pickup
• - Lift, carry, and load groceries into customer vehicles
• - Tender customer orders through POS and process credit card payments
• - Substitute products for customers upon request or when items are unavailable
• - Continually monitor incoming online orders to ensure prompt, on-time fulfillment
• - Answer phones and emails promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers
• - Follow Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all department and company guidelines
• - Pitch in with other tasks or special projects as they come up

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Physical Requirements

Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas

• Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
• Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
• Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
• Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties

Working Environment

This is a fast-moving role with constant pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks throughout your shift. You'll work primarily in a retail store setting and may be exposed to dust, noise, temperature extremes, moving equipment hazards, and electrical equipment. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
