Job summary

Integrated Solutions for Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Airworthiness Manager to lead certification activities for advanced avionics and aerospace systems on on-site programs in Dayton, OH, Huntsville, AL, and Niceville, FL.

The role requires MIL-HDBK-516C expertise, DoD program experience, and the ability to coordinate across engineering, program management, and regulatory teams to ensure lifecycle compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 15–20 years of airworthiness, certification, or safety engineering for defense aerospace programs.
• Hands-on experience with MIL-HDBK-516C and derivative criteria.
• Strong understanding of system development lifecycle, configuration management, and risk management.
• Experience with DoD acquisition programs or military certification offices.
• Excellent communication skills interfacing with customers, regulators, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the program’s primary airworthiness authority and SME.
• Interpret and validate MIL-HDBK-516C compliance across design, test, sustainment.
• Develop airworthiness plans, matrices, and certification strategies.
• Coordinate with military authorities for approvals and flight releases.
• Lead airworthiness risk identification, mitigation and reviews.
• Support safety analyses, hazard assessments, and configuration control.
• Prepare technical docs, briefs, and compliance evidence.
• Ensure alignment between design decisions and airworthiness criteria.
• Mentor engineers on certification processes and documentation expectations.
