Job summary

LTA Research, based in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a Flight Test Engineer to join the Flight Test team and lead test planning, hazard analyses, and flight test execution for our innovative airship program at Moffett Field. You will work with ground and flight operations, engineering, and other teams to ensure safe, effective flight testing.

The role requires 5+ years in experimental flight testing, a bachelor’s degree in engineering, FAA Class 3 medical eligibility, and the ability to obtain a

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experimental flight test experience.
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in an applicable engineering field.
• Able to obtain FAA Class 3 medical certificate (or better).
• Familiarity with aircraft systems and operations.
• Proficiency in test planning, THA drafting, and aircraft operating procedures.
• Ability to lead complex flight test development and execution.
• Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.
• Understanding of flight test instrumentation.
• Able to obtain NASA Moffett Federal Airfield AOA Badge.

Responsibilities

• Produce test documentation such as test plans and hazard analyses.
• Assist with operational documentation preparation.
• Participate in test readiness and safety reviews.
• Collaborate with engineers, test pilots, and operations to meet test objectives safely.
• Lead test briefings/debriefings and coordinate with support groups.
• Direct flight test operations onboard an airship or from the telemetry room.
• Perform post-flight data analysis and report findings.
• Prepare flight test reports and address non-conformances.
• Other duties as assigned; occasional travel.
